Fisher Impulse Mods.

Would it be possible to change a Fisher Impulse into an automatic retune pi, like a whites surfmaster pi ?

Yes, it's possible, although I don't have a schematic and therefore can't tell you exactly how.
You might not like the results. On a mineralized beach in the shallow water, autotune can make a PI bounce around to where it's unusable. For underwater salvage, autotune causes a big reduction in sensitivity to large objects. In most situations, however, autotune would probably be an advantage.
Taking an Impulse apart and putting it back together is a tricky job, even for the person on the production line. Get it right, and it doesn't leak. Get it wrong, and it'll probably leak.
I recommend leaving it like it is.
