Hi gents: what are 1270 settings for hunting coins and no iron signals.Buying 1270 with 5" coil and 10.5"coil so need feed back on different settings for coins, rings, any feed back appreciated. Thank you.--james.

Well you can run it several ways, first you can just run in normal disc, at any level you would want to run the disc. I like to run disc just below nickels and the sensitivity about 8. Then you could run in iron disc which you can use to disc out some type of problem iron in the hunt area, and then toggle over to normal disc for a coin check.

It also has a all metal but I never use it.

One thing I can tell you is if you turn on the silencer you will lose a fair amount depth.

You will notice that the 1270 will not lose depth with higher disc settings like the 1266x did.

Right as always Ron. Try that A/M's if the ground isn't dirty you'll get some deep ones. How's it going Ron?

Shooter,

All in all things are going pretty good, but we have just about found all the silver in our area of WV.

It's good to see you posting.

Haven't gotten out to much this summer, hot dry and found out I got Prostat Cancer so it was kind of a bummer, but got a new Doc did the tests and it didn't spread, so doing hormon shots and beam radiation every day for 43 treatments and everything should come out ok......... Just got permission to do a Drive-in 1mile from my house, is was built in 1950, sit at dinner with my wifes cousin and was talking about the drive-in and said never got to get permission, he said oh yes wait a min., got on the phone and talked to this guy Ernie and the next thing I know he said your all set any time you want to go do it. he's the owners real estate broker plus they worked together. A ton of thash but got 18 silver ing 3 4 hrs hunt plus wheaties and 1 sil. ring. Upgraded F75 in FA mode is unreal every silver coin is 9 "s or more. I waqs IDing at 11 "s and wasn't going to dig it but the sound was repeatable in all direction, but it was not a solid tone so I dug and dug and up came sil. merc. that was that never passed another deepy with that tone again. 1 10" ID 76 hit brought up 3 Wash. Quarters and 3 Rosies. place is unbelieveable. Also got permission to do the State Park historical sites from the 1833 up to the 1900's, Haven't worked that to much GPSing the sites and foundations from some old maps.

Here is one trick, that I nicknamed silver blasting. Just run in normal disc, set disc and sensitivity to max, she will run kind of noisy and you will think you would never hear a target if you run over one. But when you do run over a good silver target she will quiet down long enough to give you a pretty clean signal. I never tried this with any other coil than the 5x10 inch elliptical.

The little 3.75" round flower pot coil works really good for pulling out nickels out of the trashy areas. If you go looking for a little coil just pay attention to the cable, the ones with the skinny cable will not work on the 1270. Done been there and done that, so just pay attention if you go looking for one.

Just let us know if you have questions. Shooter is the man when it comes to the 1270, he helped me a lot with my first 1270.

Im somewhat new to the 1270-less than 1 year ... i recommend you watch the fisher 1270 factory utube video over and over to help you understand the concept of primary and secondary modes as they relate to the 3 way switch. ... i haven't had great success on land yet but i rigged mine up with the control box high on an extended shaft so it stays above water and use it in freshwater and have done well with it..

bootyhoundpa,

That chest mount rig that shooter made may interest you, send him a pm and see if he could post or send you a picture.

is it in a waterproof box? i actually have my control box mounted above my head as i like to hunt in chest deep water.. i really like the extra sensetivity this thing has ...it has found some really tough targets... its real strength is hitting targets in bobby pin infested areas...

I was looking at your own thread and I saw the pictures, pretty nice rig. Maybe shooter should send you a PM and get some of your ideas.

Nice work,

Hi,
I hunt in AM-ground adjust as primary mode and dig every beep.
Try burying a watch in your test garden and see where/if you can phase it out.
Now turn the same watch sideways and try again.
This is why I dig ALL beeps.
Others may differ - their choice.

Well, I got my 1270 very nice condition, the 10.5" coil works great 12-13" on a quarter, but the supprise was the 5" coil ,really has some depth ,have yet to field test it.Just bench tested it and looks very decent, the 10.5" coil a little heavy,so I shorten the coil rod and it really helped.Think will stick with Normal Disc. Mode for a while till I get the hang for it:thumbup:
Thank you guys:clapping:

Yes CJ try out swinging thingy to take the weight off of that 10 1/2 inch coil. They are pretty easy to make I have a couple of pictures I can send. Using all strap and a bungee cord around the shaft, you'll be amazed at how like that 10 1/2 inch coil is

yes I would. pb23@optonline.net

Made from a Army Duffle Bag, works great

First mount was made steel rod
