Actually it's just one of my troops sweeping our project site before we moved our construction equipment onto it. I'm in the background behind him participating in the morning "meeting of the minds" and also helping to make a juicy mortar/RPG target for some lucky insurgent. The detector is an AN/PSS-14 made by Schiebel in Austria. It's a pulse induction machine powered by 4 "D" cells and it SUCKS. They are currently being replaced by a variant of the Minelab F1A4 demining detector.

This is an IED that was found during a sweep and safely detonated by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians

My first Pastor's son is an officer stationed in Iraq. He had one go off near his Hummer while they were on the road. Thank God he's OK though he got cut up a bit (along with his guys). He said if they were going a just a little faster they would have taken a direct hit. Also had a car bomb go off in an area where he was standing just minutes before... Somebody's watchin' over him big time :)

Wow, Reminds of the cartoon where the person is hitting the artillery shell with a hammer right on the tip. Everytime you see him in the cartoon he is hitting one of the shells lined up in the warehouse. And if it doesnt go off he says " DUD" Well he finds a good one at the end.
You are all in our prayers every day. Thank you for your service.
