Finally got out today when it wasn't cold, raining or working.
Used my home made digging knife patterned after a Japanese gardening knife.
It cuts good clean plugs 6" deep and pryed them up without difficulty.
Found 32 coins (clad) <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":("> and 2 matchbox cars in about 2 hours of hunting. Recovery was quick and easy.
was a good test for the knife.

Looks kike a nice knife for digging plugs but 6 inches is a bit too shallow in my area.Might carry two knifes and a much longer one with a bend in it to exract the dirt below the 6 inch plug.
