It will be warm soon.....This is one of my pics taken in the Keweenaw when I was up there this last Labor Day week-80 to 90 degrees every day I was there;not a cloud in the sky-Lake Superior was like a giant fish pond-WARM AND CALM each and every day I was there...Second pic is of the scene that greeted me every morning outside my motel room...WONDERFUL!!! #3 is Lake Of The Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains-AGAIN;it was HOT when I was here-with about a 30 MPH wind blowing up the rock face, felt just like the desert, believe it or not!!

Bring it on! :)

Not for ME!!!! Most people who live in the Deep South DREAD summer.... unless they are among the minority that actually like 95-105 degree temps, and humidity at 90-100%. I don't even like to think about it! And it will be quite warm here waaaaay before four months is up. We had upper 70's last week. It's much cooler right now, but in a few days we will probably be up there again. But, I realize you guys up North have it rough during the winter and look forward to warmer days. Hope you are able to get out and enjoy it once it arrives.... and don't forget to think about me down here melting while you're out there swinging your detector! Hope you are all blessed with some wonderful finds! The summer months is when mine goes into the closet while I stay inside with the air conditioner running full blast! :hot:

I was blessed with my final months of flight school at Fort Rucker, Just outside of Enterprise, Alabama. One other minor detail they probably wouldn't believe is your friendly? Cottonmouth Water Moccasin that will actually hunt you down IF you are in their territory.

My best friend was draining his Catfish pond and hired his nephew to stand guard while he was unbolting the drain cap. Ray's nephew shot and killed 16 snakes that were coming after him while he was working on the drain pipe.:surrender:

Oppressive is right! I have lived here all of my life (45 years), and you would think I would be used to it. But it's just something most people don't get used to, or adjust to. I know there are some folks here that it doesn't bother too much and they enjoy the summer months, but they are the exception. This fall/winter has been cooler/colder for us than usual. We usually have temps that are up and down all during the fall/winter/spring, but our winters are usually very mild. It was 28 degrees at my house this morning, and the high today is supposed to be around 62. I hear we will be getting a shot of cooler air for the new year and then climb back into the 60's for the weekend.

SNAKES are a big problem around here! I can relate to the story you told, Mark! You're right, the cotton mouth is an aggressive little devil! My daughter, Julie, has been bitten by a copper head and a rattle snake. We have three poisonous snakes this far up in Alabama; the copper head, rattle snake (several different varieties), and the cotton mouth. Alabama does have the poisonous coral snake, but they are more along the coast and not this far north. When I was growing up you hardly ever heard of an alligator up this far, but now days we hear about people spotting them around here. I don't think they are plentiful in my area, but we do have them now. We used to not have armadillos this far up, but are now over run with them.

No I don't want it hot either! 70 is high enough! When it does get hot and dry here we like to get in the water and fing gold! :)

HI Lisa....yes, the hot weather with high humidity is really unbearable now for me at my older age! Didn't mind it so much as a child growing up on the farm! We didn't even have fans, let alone A/C....but the nights were usually cooler! Went in the creek a lot to cool off, swim and play in the water! There are Armidillos in Southern MO, as you find them as roadkill along the Interstates and highways! The first time I ever saw one, while vacationing in Texas, Florida and etc., I didn't know what it was! We have copperheads and timber rattlers in the woods and also bears and some other wild animals....not many but a few have been spotted and sometimes they have to be killed while tracking someone! Hope you are able to detect often during the wintertime in Alabama, as it sounds like summers are off limits for :detecting: for you! I cannot stand the really cold weather nor the really hot weather and MO has them both for too long! :) God Bless! Betty
