Paul...good to see you still have the GQ. I have about 8-9 detectors and the other day my son was asking me about them, pointing to which one is that, what does that one do.

I told them I was selling a few of them. He pointed to the Goldquest and said 'What about that one ?" I told him that is the one detector, no matter what, that I will NEVER sell.

If I went in the water a lot, I would have bought that Aquasearch in a second.

Same here John, I'd never sell my waterproof GQ SS. I added an in-line 10uS probe Mr. Bill sold me Eric Foster had made, Helps me get the real small stuff in shallow water.

One time and maybe even still, About 5-6 years ago when I waterproofed my GQ it was the best underwater Pi on the West Coast. It was a nightmare crunching in the GQ curcuit board and waterproof pots into a Whites Pi housing, Everything is waterproof includng the GrayGhost headset.

Take care and God bless,

Paul,

I keep kicking myself for selling my other GQ SS v2. I was going to send it to Mr Bill and he was going to water proof it and put on the GG headphones. At the time I had 2 of them, I wasn't water hunting much so I sold one, along with 2 Minelab coils ( they weren't water proof ) and the connector.

Oh well....I ended up getting the HH PI for the water, which I still don't frequent much. Good lightweight PI and I have the small coil so I can run at max frequency and it runs very smooth and is sensitive to the smaller targets. Pin pointing with that is EASY.

The GQ I have now is fitted with a 10 inch spider coil. I find that coil pin pointed better than the open 11 inch, and that is what was on the one I was going to get waterproofed. I don't ever want to mess with the set up I have now, which is on a Whites rod and the unit under the cuff. The machine is balanced perfectly, and I like being able to use my Black Widows or my Troy headphones with it since they are not hardwired in.

Still wish I did waterproof the other one though !

Love your set up with the probe. SInce that GQ finds lots of small stuff, bet that is a time saver. I wonder if Eric would make a few of the version 3 that was advertised on Bills site. It had a gain adjustment as an added feature. The GQ is not only a mean PI performance wise...it looks great too ! I don't think there was more than 200 made, and you never see them for sale.

Keep on swinging and finding the gold.

Good health and good hunting.

John

Hi John,

I think Eric will make you an inline 10uS probe for the version 3, It's a neat added feature you'll truly enjoy.

I agree, The10" center mount coil is allot better, Still gets serious depth and less drag wading in the surf or water. I have one on my GQ, Hard wired but it's not coming off even though I have both the 11" mono and 11" DD.

Take care John and hope this year brings you gobs of gold jewelry and you find a waterproof GQ SS v2.
