For the X70 and X50 guys info:

Called Minelab today and asked about the X Terra's problem of turning off and on. They said that they had some problems with the X50's but not the X70's. If I remember right he said it was the early serial number X50's. Anyway glad it ain't the X70's. My X70"s serial # is 0093 so I got one of the early models and mine is working great so far. :super: The guys that have had problems with there machines and have sent them back, what serial #'s were your machines. That DD is one heck of a good coil. I been pulling war nickles and buffs right and left out of places I have hunted to death and everything has been down 8 and 10"s. :jump::clap:. Needless to say this one is a keeper so far. Still have not used the 9" 7khz coil yet. Having too much fun with the DD hunting in the trash. Later ya'll, Jerry aka Tinfoil.

I'm going out with my DD coil for the first time tomorrow (only the 2nd time out with the 70)and I would like to try hunting exactly the way you were. Thanks in advance!

Noise cancel auto.
Auto G/B machine. ground Balanced at 82 at this spot. Will auto just as good as manual. Sometimes put it a couple of numbers highter or Positive G/B just depends how bad the ground is and where I am at. This is bad ground as you see at 82 so didnot go anymore pos.
Track off.
Beach off.
Buffs read 12/14 maybe jump to 16 if deep like 8" to 10"s otherwise 12 at 4 to 6"s. Just depends how corroded they are and how bad the ground mineralization is.
Silver war nickles 1942 to 1945 shallow 2 to 4"sread 12, 4 to 6"s 12/14, 8 to 10"s they jump around a little 12/14/16 just depends how corroded they are. Down here they get a little corroded with the salt salinty and sulpher we have in the ground down here. Copper does not do well in places here. Hope you find a bunch as all the old sites I have been hunting have been beat to death and about all there is left is buffs , sheild , v, and war nickles. Which is ok, it helps to dig those targets for button hunting. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

My 70 is serial # 0029 and it turned off today for the first time during a hunt and I'm on my 6th. set of duracells (about 150 hours).
New batteries and out in the middle of a field that had absolutely NO overhead electrical wires or anything of the sort.
So .... I turned it back ON and hunted for another 2 hours without the problem rearing it's ugly head again.
I'll be keeping a watchful eye on it though ... BELIEVE THAT
This is the first time I've heard of a 70 doing this.
You would have to bring this up and jinx my A$$ Jerry

just raise the coil a few inches off the ground and it does just fine. Deep targets 4"+ works real good. Some concentric coils do the same thing. No big thing. Just thought I might bring that up. I think my Joey coil on my Exp ll pinpoints shallow targets better but the X70 does a better job at depth. They both pinpoint in the same place about 1" in front of the shaft or at least mine does. A on edge target is a little harder to pinpoint. You have to X the target with the pinpoint button pushed and work the target a little more. On a deep target you are going to have to pinpoint the target to get a good ID anyway or it is going to be jumping around some due to the coverage of a DD coil. I like the DD coils for my style of hunting far better then I do the Concentric coils. Hope this helps. Oh one other thing. The X70 will:please::clapping: Tone ID deeper then it will pinpoint so just go to the Prospect mode with the iron mask at 5 and you won't have any problems which is a big +. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

I first want to say I have a XTerra-50 (s/n00483)and it has worked great for the last three hunts with no problems at all. I just received a XTerra-70 last Thursday and have used it about two hours, when I put it together I didn

As I did not want the 3khz coil I don't have a use for it. Wanted the DD as I prefer the DD coils over the Concentric coils. Will check for you though. Better yet, call Ronny Dugger at Dixie Metal Detectors and he will treat you right. I been buying from him as long as he has been in business. I take him as a Dependent each year (I wish) Later bud and I am glad I bought the D:jump::bouncy:D I really like it. Jerry aka Tinfoil

Until ML comes out with a smaller concentric or a DD for the 7.5Khz frequency the DD elliptic is looking like my coil of choice also.

:look:  I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, because there was no body around when I did it. When caught Deny everything and make them prove it. . Man bummer. I only got about 14 hours on mine and have not even checked the batteries on mine lately. I guess I better put some new batteries in my pocket. Say you were out in the middle of a field when it died. Maybe you were working it so hard it decided to go on strike . I mean, hell,150 hours and no break maybe it was trying to tell you it was Miller time :beers: or in my case Pepsi time. Or maybe it was just getting a little Goofy . I mean yesterday I had to go back and get my Manual because I forgot to RTFM on how to use the beach mode. I bet I pushed that G/B switch 3 seconds at least 10 times and I could not get that stupid umbrella to come up on the machine.:shrug:. Walked all the way back to the truck, naturally I was way the heck across the field and it was :hot: as the . On page 40 it tells you to push G/B then push and hold G/B sw. for the stupid 3 seconds. Did just like the Manual said and :surprised: :wiggle: it worked. Well we :cheekkiss: and made up now it is :inlove: and and we are ready to rock and roll again. I was pushing so many buttons on it either I got  or the x70 got :ranting: and I just shut it off. Everything was OK after I went and turned it back on. You know how it is them metal detectors should be reading your mind and not screw up just cause I pushed the wrong buttons. . Well pull on the battery springs and make sure the battery door is closed good. One other stupid thing I did was the machine went quite but the screen was working great and the audio was down. Got to checking and my shadow ear phones have a 90* angle on them and it got hooked on my hunting apron and pulled it part the way out. Now this was all in the same day. I am really  :stars::crazy: now. Then I see what is wrong :spin::crazy::rofl::cheekkiss: push the ear phone connector and low and behold it was a miracle it worked. So there so much for your machine cutting off on you. If you worked me 150 hours I would lay down on you too. Let me know if it screws up again. OK. I hope it don't . Maybe it just got confused.:heh::heh:. Later bud Jerry aka Tinfoil

I think the Smilley are great. :clapping::super::clap::detecting:. They help to express one's self instead of really telling like it is. Like my dealings with UPS and the stupid things I have done lately testing out my new machine. Of coarse after the :rant:is over you got to  at your self. Later bud. Jerry aka Tinfoil

My 70 has been flawless, works great. I had to read the manual 3 times and play with the machine to get used to the beach mode, auto tracking, set the sens on different modes, etc. I really like this machine. Hope to get the small coil when it comes out and assigned it to the 50 exclusively. Good hunting to you Jerry. John
