For those of you who like to read books...

I finished an interesting book that I got for my birthday. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to think outside of the box when it comes to their faith. It is called Blue Like Jazz, written by Donald Miller. It is about the spiritual journey of the author, who thinks about God in non-religious terms. I disagreed with him on a few points, but found myself thinking and admiring the thought process that brought him to his faith.
How about you all? Do you read? Favorite authors? I definitely like Jim Cymbala's books and have read many of Max Lucado's books

ps. Best Wishes for the New Year!!!

While I read a lot I don't tend to read Christ centered books. I do, of course, read the Bible most every day. Maybe I'll check out your book here, thanks, steve in so az

Is there stuff in there about jazz music as well? Serious! I was thinking about how much my son likes Jesus and jazz. Wasn't sure by the title.
Hope your family has an awesome new year.

I like Christian Romance books, books and magazines on Treasure and coins, and of course my KJV Bible. Can't remember who writes the romances I like but I think her last name is Oakley! I liked Love's Long Journey and the ones afterwards, I also watched them on TV! Also many others! Very good writings about how Christians stay Christ-like in their finding each other and in their marriages! Have lots of books, as I had belonged to a Christian book club while I was still working, but my eyes are so weak now, I haven't read very much since Cliff came and we worked trying to get the house ready for sale and looking and buying another one! Just wish the economy and our health were better, so we could sell my house for a good price, so I can get out of debt or almost! :) God Bless! Betty

It is more of one persons spiritual journey. The Blue Like Jazz reference never made itself completely known to me, but I would guess that he is reflecting on his own life, that he was often blue, like jazz music. (does that make sense?)

Fresh Wind Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala. He started the Brooklyn Tabernacle (his wife started and directed the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir). It is a book about how God taught him some humbling lessons in the establishing of his ministry. Some good points can be taken from it!

This will be a year of prosperity for you(health and wealth wise) and Cliff. Just keep trusting that God will lead you where he wants you to be!(like I should be telling you that:lol:)

Thanks Bro J for your prayers and post for Cliff and I! Yes, God is still leading us to move into the Cuba, MO home! I was wondering about how slow we are in getting things packed and ready to move, that I might just sell the home down there and pay off the mortgage on this one, and try to update it, so we can stay here instead, although I've lost money in refinancing and the RE Taxes are really high! I was talking to Cliff today and told him what I was thinking and asked him what he wanted to do and he said he still wanted to move to Cuba...................Soooooo, Lord, I pray, help us to be able to get things done and a good Samaritan and/or a good Christian handyman to do the work that we cannot do to be able to move before Spring is really here! I pray this in Jesus' holy name! Amen! God Bless! Sister Betty
