If you read this article , you will see a sentence about halfway down that reads " The mine would be directly above Iliamna Lake, the largest producer of sockeye salmon in the world." So if the mine is above the lake, wouldn't you need an airplane to get the gold and copper or am I missing something here??

I think we need an airplane with an air scoop and maybe a metal detector that has super good air tests?

I betcha that those who want the gold win...but I hope not! Maybe there is away to get around the lake and up the mountain where they would dig and have roads leading to it....but they might have to fly there first and then travel to the mine! The money, hungry are greedy and most likely will win, because they have large sums of money to back them and get what they want! :veryangry:   Ma Betty

they could dig a hole at the base of the mountain and then dig UPWARDS. !!!!!!!!! :yikes: :heh: Just Kidding. PEACE:RONB

At least the fish would be happy. !!!!!!!! :lmfao: RB

Just an alternate point of view Ma not really meant to disagree with ya.

Manufacturing, Mining, and Extracting Resources create wealth anything that is a service consumes wealth. I consider Construction, Fishing and farming to fall into the prior categories. I am sure that some will disagree, but if you are not producing wealth you are consuming it. Anything that is a service industry is either a consumer or re-distributer of wealth. WE NEED SERVICE industries. Think of life without doctors, ministers or grocery stores, it would be a lot harder. This country was made wealthy by producing things that people wanted. The real trick in my mind is what one does with his wealth. Do we trample others with it or do we follow Christ and help others with it. Poverty is not fun and really allows me to do little for others. Not nothing, just not as much as I would like. But as I get older and have a bit more disposable income I find that I am able to help more, and further from home.

We need the fish and the environment must be cared for, but we also need mining and the metals produced.

Greed is not always bad (in a broad sense), it creates jobs and when used with a conscience can be a good thing. Look to the bible and you will find some great men who can easily be considered to have been greedy. They still did The Lords work. We will always have evil men with us and can always point to men like the wealthy man whose doorstep Lazarus sat in front of. I would basically define greed as simply wanting more.

I know this strays from the OP a bit sorry,

Hope this makes sense, its getting late.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, I don't disagree with your post but they who have the money are able to get more by buying their way...it has been done in the past, is being done now and will be done in the future! That is what I was referring to more than anything else! The fisherman don't have as much money as those who seek contributors to get a mine started just like they do when hunting for sunken ships in the oceans! It probably can be done to keep both providing what is needed but the godly wise must be in charge and do it correctly without others suffering in the consequence of don't care attitude as long as I get what I want out of it! Too many with attitudes like that now days because of our world being full of sin and greedy people! Yes, I grew up on a farm in the 40's and 50's and I know what poor is with dad not having much money, he did most of the work himself and made tools to work with! We need services and I go along with that but not conglomerations that take over and run the small businesses out of town! May God have mercy upon America and His people to turn our econmy around and provide more for the hard working taxpayers and for those who truly cannot help themselves! Amen! Ma Betty
