I dug a 3 at about 9 " loud and clear with my xs with the 10" coil no problem thats in Va. soil has alot of factors you really cant answer that question? The differences are to extreme from on place to another its just not that simple ,swing a coil and how deep was it? actually metal detecting for me is weird one day your on the other your off I dont know why this is ,but I still believe if its there it will sound especially with the right equipment and attitude,you may think thats weird but when I focus and am into it works, well anyhow to answer your question honestly 10"
