Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman Wyman, 70, became interested in archeology, he notes, since buying an English manor house in Suffolk in 1968. He decided to develop his own metal detector after being unable to find a suitable such device for his daughter, Katie, 12. Check out his website, looks like he has some nice finds in England.

Sounds like he has been getting a little
satisfaction over there in the UK..
Seems to be pretty serious about it..
I envy his hunt locations. He's sitting on
prime time detector country.
The history and relics in the UK go way, way
back... In fact, my dad's side of the family
is from Scotland originally, and we even have
a family castle at Dunnatar <sp?> Scotland.
The Keith family has quite a history in Scottish
and English history. Various Keiths held the
title of Great Marischal of Scotland for over
700 years.
I'd like to take a tecter to that castle and poke
around, but they probably wouldn't let me get
within 1000 yards with a machine.. It's pretty
much in ruins now.
My mothers side of the family was from England.
My great grandfather on her side was born in
Southhampton, and they mostly lived in a village
near "Toothill" , which I think is a bit west
of Southhampton. They moved to the U.S. in the
1860's. He ended up living in Oklahoma, which
was indian territory at the time my grandmother
was born in 1888.
