No, I'm pretty sure that means it's 9 carat gold.

Very Nice Jim...Looks like it's in nice Condition too...I cant help out with the age But it looks like its pretty old...How about another picture when it's all cleaned up??? I'd be amped up a little myself....

Hey Jim, what type of environment did you find it in. That may help in determining the age. Old Victorian yard, common, carriage road?? Nice find, do let us see the cleaned up version.

...found it an old lakeside park. Used to have an amusement park there back at the turn of the century (1900s). I'm guessing that the coin/pendant was sold there or something. I'm sure the coin was put into the gold thing later than the date of the coin. Probably early 1900s. Could of been lost on a ride they had there. Who knows. Fun to find though. May be more there if in fact they did sell those type of things there. Also, the more I look at it, it looks as thought it may have been gold plated or painted gold or something. It is definety a silver coin though.

Even though it is worn, you just don't find many Bust Type Coins and it looks good in the Bezel. Awesome find and hope you find more Old Silver on your next voyage out. Good Luck and HH.
