found gold ring!!!!

I found a gold ring tonite in the neighbors yard looks like a gold wedding band there is some corosion on the insides of it so i'm assuming its just plated, on the inner side it says 10kt gold filled whats that mean, it was still very nice to find.

any ring is a good find.gold filled means there is a layer of gold bonded to a base metal.it is more valuable than gold plate or gold wash.the weight of the gold has to account for a certain percentage of the weight of the object,but i cant remember what percentage.

Gold filled is a little heavier than plating but basically the same.

It depends on the mark preceding the carat mark. 1/20 is pretty common.
