Found my first ever English Pound and inadvertently starred briefly in a movie..

Went to one of my regular parks that usually coughs up two to four bucks but was strangely devoid of coins today and I wound up with a lousy 88 cents plus the pound. I was on my way back to my van when I got one of those squirrely signals that told me the YF had found something unusual that wasn't in its programming - so I popped up this 1981 English pound coin. It's a heavy coin and an eighth inch thick.

Earlier I had wandered over towards the playground where I saw a group of people gathered at one end of it. As I started towards it this guy came over all excited and told me they were filming a movie and I had just walked into it. Actually he said, " S&%* you're already in it." I told him I was sorry and he asked if I would do him a favor and just walk the other direction. I told him I'd go him one better as I was heading for the playground and I would just quietly exit his movie. He said, " Oh thank you." After I got in the playground I saw all the cameras, lights, reflectors, etc. So this was my uneventful day.

Nice find on the pound coin. You are a star.

From the land of the Bluenose.....those are thick coins for sure eh! I'll be the first in line for your autography providing the cost is not to steep. Way to go me bouy!

You would think they would be watching things a little better. That happened to me in Hawaii. My wife and I walked into a movie shoot in the Honolulu botanical gardens.

Another first for the guru. Those 1 pound coins feel like real money don't they?

Now that you're in the movies don't get all Hollywood on us.

Yeah I've got a jar full of foreign coins but tis is a first for this one. I just noticed it has writing on the rim like our new dollar coin except this is in what appears to be Latin.

Do you know what metal these pound coins are made of? When I dug it up it was bronze colored but when I cleaned it a bit silver showed through.and there are words printed on the rim - apparently in Latin.
