Found old houses but...

Sunbeard

New member
Didn't find any old coins. About a half an hour of searching this 1841 house, I found lots of iron junk lol. But some cool stuff. I learned a lot about the history of Hixson ( the town i live in) this property was actually purchased from Native Americans by the Hixson Family. The family still owns the house, young couple. Pretty cool. Anyhow they let me search and said they'd let me come back anytime they're there. I wish I knew more of what I was doing cause I'm sure this house and the surrounding land is a gold mine. Indians settled this area and she said as a kid they'd find muskett balls and all kinds of stuff from the Hixson Militia that camped on the creek on her back 40. Cant wait to go there. So here is what I did find.

[attachment 158934 IMG_8783.1.jpg] Not sure what this is. Its very, very easily bent, like copper would be or something like that. In fact i had to wave it over the machine again to make sure it was metal it bent so easily. It was all wadded up when i found it. Any Ideas?

[attachment 158935 IMG_8789.1.jpg] Yeah, no clue.

[attachment 158936 IMG_8791.1.jpg] Very small horse? lol I dunno what this is either.

[attachment 158937 IMG_8796.1.jpg] A very old pipe wrench. it says Ford USA on it.

[attachment 158938 IMG_8802.1.jpg] I found 5 cents and a car at the beach around the lake.:| Kids had fun though

Over all though its refueled my get up and get'em for detecting. Thanks again Goes4ever for the tips. Found another place i hope to hunt thats been there since 1904.

God Bless,
Sunbeard

The round one is out of a pocket watch, the "U" shaped one is a jaw to a leg hold trap, and the pointed one looks like strap lead or copper.

Invite Mike from MI over to help you. He knows his stuff. (Hey Mike I am sucking up a little in case I need your expert advice)

Yikes. That musta been a HUGE pocket watch. Its 2.5 inches in diameter. OH! while I was measuring it I found on the back side, or front whatever, where the little slot in the middle is there is an F on one side and S on the other side. If its from a pocket watch I wonder if that means Fast and Slow.

Lead! Why didn't I think of that!

I have another something that I found. It even has a phone number on it.

[attachment 158949 IMG_8805.1.jpg] Not sure how old it is. I can't seem to find info on the AC Sanders & Sons Milk yet. Anyhow the house i got this from had a foundation from a dairy processing building that the nearby school used.

BTW Mike how do you know these things lol?

Sun.

Ancielt Chinese Secret!

I guess over the last 10 years I have found a million things, researched that many also, and seen even more. Glad to help when I can.

You will have many hours of good hunting seems like. Nice wrench. Hope it cleans up well. The Smiley face thingy is probably off the back of a clock.

That is not a pipe wrench it is a Ford wrench. They came in the tool kits of early Ford automobiles. I think this accurate info anyhow.

Jeff

In the process right now of using electrolytic rust removal to get the wrench back to its original state. And you're right Jeff, that's exactly what it is. Thanks!

if you dug all that in half an hour you need to get back there and dig a LOT, LOT more, there is old coins there. Keep trying be patient, go slow, dig it all!
