What a day, Buckeye Brad, another hunting partner and myself went to a local old
school site today. The school was from the late 1800's and has been torn down for almost 30 years.
We all were trying new programs for our F-75's. Buckeye Brad showed us how to set up our detectors. Brad and I are going to the DIV X hunt in a few short weeks and I wanted to learn different settings for my F-75.
I was hunting mostly in all metal, sensitivity set around 70, tried higher but was to eratic for this site. I also switched back and forth to the Jewelry mode, disc. set at 8, and ran at 3 tones.
Brad walked away with a man's bracelet and a really nice Sterling Silver ring. My other partner found a 1919 Wheat penny and a heart shaped necklace.
I found 3 wheat pennies, a 1888 Indian Head penny, a silver ring, a compact and a pocket knife. One of the wheats was over 8 inches down in very, very dry soil. The IH was at least 7 inches down. I couldn't really say that I had solid signals on any of the coins, but they all sounded off with a nice beep, jumping back and forth, but all were deep so I dug them.
Thanks Buckeye Brad for the advice. Had a really good day. Hope we both find some good finds at DIV X. I will probably walk out of there with a bunch of iron objects, but also hope to find some really cool bullets.
