Found this badge

Found this badge but have no clue about it. The part I can see reads "Grand Army of the Republic" Not sure about the writing on the bottom, although a date of 1866 is legible. Thanks for any info. Dime for size

GAR badge, Union army veteran group. Nice find. You can find the design on the internet if you google Grand Army of the Rebublic.

It looks like the "badge" was actually part of a medal of membership.

Maybe if ya go back to same area you will find the Eagle
