This was found in the mud last week. It appears to be a very high quality brass or bronze. I bet the latter. It was machined from one piece of metal. I think this fit into a track. it was about 8 inches down in sandy mud, so it has been there for awhile.
This was found in area where lots of items from the early 1900's to around 1930's were found. This area generally has been active since the 1600's. It also. may of been involved with a debris field from the Hurricane of 38. The location is next to a road about 50 yards in.

Thank you

First thought was a blade off a sickle bar (cutting grass or hay) but not using that metal..... hmmm

Thank you for commenting. This was a very precise use of the metal. To find it with no corrosion is amazing. Even brass or bronze corrodes in Salt Water. This has been there for a long time underwater. This is a very high quality alloy metal. The track on the bottom perplexes me.
