four buttons and a large coin

Tim LeBlanc

New member
Spent the day in the woods with my father and other detecting buddies. We worked five different cellar holes. I grabbed the buttons and the coin. I can't find a date on the coin yet. The buttons have markings on them. But I can't tell what they are so....... the items are taking a oil bath as well as the coin. I love my F70. HH. Tim

I know there old. The smallest button is pewter. My cousin dug a colonial coin. One of the guys dug a 1809 half cent. My dad 1 button and a musket ball drop. My coin is pretty beat up but you can see writing on it. I hope to find out soon. I will keep you all posted. HH. Tim

Tim nice finds. I know working cellar holes is really hard work. Of course that is why I don't do that. But I really do admire you guys that do. Many of you guys seem to find some super finds. Great detecting Tim and I also prefer my F70. It is light, fast and a fun detector. Happy Trails...Z

Love that F70 of mine as well. Here's to that big ol' coin being an LC or better!

Can you recall what some of the numbers were on those targets? Steady or bouncy?

the three larger buttons where in the high tab to low zinc range. about 3 to 4 inches. the coin was high 60's to low 70's and that was 8 inches. i also dug lead which was 23-24 screaming high
.i was running my machine ..........disc was 23 speed DE sense was 99 tone 3H thresh -3 and ran with it nothing jumpy.. i cany quite remember what the small pewter button was. i hope that helps. oh the ground balance varied from high 60's to low 80's ............HH........Tim
