Fred Flintstone Ring

Found this detecting chest deep water in the Gulf over the winter while snow birding. It’s 16 grams and came out with a dark gray patina like silver would. Used electrolysis on it and this is the end result. Not sure what I have here. It passes the magnet test. Not even sure if it is a ring. Maybe homemade. Kinda looks hammered. Any ideas ?

Only thing I can suggest is maybe a ring made from a nut.
A guy I used to work with was in the navy and said they made them out of stainless steel nuts.
