Friday's finds.

Found a few keepers today and hope to do better tomorrow if the rain goes around us up here. I found 6 more Wheats today and the years are 1919-s,1937-d,1940,1940-d,1940-d,and 1944-d. I also found a older junk pin,Buffalo Nickel that had no date on it and I have a pic of before the acid treatment and after (turned out to be a 1919-s),and managed to find 2 Washington Quarters dated 1935 and 1961-d. The pics are below.[attachment 24418 Wheats.png][attachment 24419 JunkPin.png][attachment 24420 BuffaloNickelBefore.png][attachment 24421 BuffaloNickelAfter.png][attachment 24422 WashingtonQuarters.png]

The acid is called Nic-A-Date Date Restorer For Nickels. It comes in a 1 1/4FL OZ bottle and your coin dealer near you should have some on hand. The back of the bottle says it contains Ferric Chloride. It may take 3-4 times to get the date to reappear but it does work. You just put the acid on the date area and let it sit until the acid turns black. Then you wipe it off and keep repeating the process until the date appears on the coin.

Nice finds there James............:) I ordered some of that Nic-A-Date and it should be here on Monday. I have a bunch of buffalo nickles and a couple of V nickles that I want to see if I can't pull out a date on them. I'll let you know how that stuff works. HH.

When you go to use it just remember that it might take 3-4 times before the date appears. You just add the acid to the date area and wait until it turns black. Then just wipe it off with an old cloth or paper towel and repeat the process. I have yet to find a Nickel that the acid hasn't been able to pull the date back out. Good Luck and HH.
