Last week I went to this park with a couple of friends. I had adjusted a couple of settings on my SE to try them out. I didn't find anything that day and my buddies found coins and 4 tokens. so today I went back by myself set the SE to factory settings and set it to deep. After digging in the frozen ground with a couple of hammers I pulled these out today. I don't think I am ready to start changing a bunch of settings yet on the SE, I can see where changing a bunch of stuff would get a person in trouble if they are not used to a detector.

Great finds Montana! Just tweak one thing at a time until you get used to it.

Very Nice Finds Montanagold. Sometimes changing a setting will make you pay a little more attn' to your signals and help you make a few more finds , kind of like when you get a new detector and make some finds in your pounded spots.. or at least it can give you an idea of what you're detector is capable of . I always hunt in normal, but today after about an hour of hunting ,I switched to audio 1 and my first target was a 1944 10K High School ring.I don't know if I would have dug it in normal, probably would have , but the new setting got me concentrating and learning a new aspect of my machine .and in this case it payed off....It might best to wait till you are comfortable with your settings before experimenting too much, that's up to the individual, but the settings are there for a reason , and experimenting with them is the only way to learn what that reason is IMO.,,,HH LaDigger

If you're going to change something, perhaps limit it to just one thing and give it a go. When you experiment with more than one thing, there tends to be two many variables at hand to determine exactly what caused the end result. Was it a single change, a second change , the combination of the two changes and so forth... Nice finds, silver is always good.
