Frozen turf for a few days-figured I'd try a sandy area

Not gonna make that mistake again-friggin concrete. We don't normally get frozen solid in the Portland Oregon area. I sympathize with those of you that have this for months on end. I'm going a tad stir crazy so I hoped the soft sand in a riverbed area would be diggable. The rain made for a nice solution for the sand to freeze with. I got a signal & tried to hammer a screwdriver in. It bent the screwdriver.

Cheers!

Thanks for the sympathy. I'm over in N Idaho and out of the last 4 winters counting this one we've had 3 that were definitely unfriendly to detecting or other non-winter outdoor activities.

Nothing frozen here but lately its rained when it warmed up then rained when it got cold again, I'm really getting tired of the rain :)

It's about 34 so I guess its going to take a while. Hope to get back out soon but again-dang it must be tough waiting it out with 4 months of solid ground. I just have a day or 2...

Up here if you don't detect in the muck you really restrict yourself. I have dedicated my Silver U-max as my "mud machine". Its got a waterproof box I also use for river wading. I just make my base settings & stick to it. A oversize knee pad velcroe'd onto an old set of jeans helps keep the knee of the ground & dry.I also have an old wax cotton slickers that are very tough & rainproof.

I get strange looks from my doggie sometimes when the rain is heavy-like-are you sure this is fun?. But we are both stir crazy & itching to get out so I will gladly go mud muckin if I could,

Cheers!
