Fun In The Woods With The Vaquero :tesoro::usaflag:

I hit the woods this morning. I saw JimTN's car parked on the road, but our paths didn't cross. Along with the regular clad and trash, I found a 1929 Buffalo Nickel (I love finding those), 3 old bullets, a compact case and part of an ole brass lantern. I set the discrimination on the Vaquero to just knock out a nail and dug everything that beeped. I was able to run wide open on the sensitivity. I kept the threshold set to a slight hum, so I could change to the all metal mode to ground balance without having to change the threshold. This came in handy, because the ground kept changing. To quickly check the ground balance all I had to do was push the pinpoint button and bounced the coil up and down while on the move . I was surprised how much the ground was changing in the woods. I could walk 50 feet or so and the ground adjust would change a quarter of a turn. Oh yeah, I was using the 8 inch doughnut coil.

I had a super fun day swinging my Tesoro.:detecting:

That's one good thing about the V and the pin point button. Can be used for various operations.

Can't wait to get mine and find me some goodies.

nice finds

I'm sure the area I'm hunting has nickels but with all the trash the dial is kept just past pull tab on the Compadre. One of these days when I feel like just playing with the digger I'll back it off. Pretty sure I'm missing a lot right now. Looks like you had a great day

Great job Tabman! This fall I finally turned that disc down and found some nickels, the usual clad, and four rings in one outing. One ring might be silver, the other three are junkers. Was using the Silver uMax. Dug my fair share of trash, but it was a nice change of pace to get some nickels and rings. I can only wonder what I have passed over.

On yeah! The amazing Silver

Great vid Tabman. I just love the Silver. I wanted simple and effective and I got it. That inexpensive lightweight detector has amazed me all season. One day I ran into a guy with a DFX and we shot the breeze for a while. He asked how can you find a coin in trash with only one tone. The area were in was trash heavy with tabs and bottlecaps. I gave him a quick demo and pulled two pennies out of the tabs. He was amazed as they were targets he would have passed on. He was quite impressed with my low dollar detector.

1929 ohh hope its not a sighn, of things to come , as the stock market has been going up , up , up . it resting things you say about the VAQ I am learning some things on fast GB I dtraded the outlaw for a vaq so its only been 25.00 to ship lets hope its deeper that the outlaw

I may be wrong about this , but my Vaquero seems to hit pennies and nickels deeper than silver dimes or quarters . I have dug lots of nickles and pennies beyond six inches but no silver past that mark.Heck, Ive dug 22 shells at six inches .

Yep, it's hot on nickels and gold rings.

ya i hate that the 22 shells can sound so good to

Now see thats the thing about the outlaw in disc with setting at foil it pretty much ignore those 22 shells, but if a gold ring is lingering with or under them it will bark like a coon hound, barry told me he dug a barber dime at 9" with his Vaquero. thats deep .
