Funny how sometimes.........

Your heart opens before your eyes do. I have never been one to attend church on a regular basis, and working in Law Enforcement had me very jaded on people as a whole, seeing the horrible things they do to each other. Then last week I sat down after work to watch the news and I saw Ruth Romero living in a home with a leaking roof and no heat. A man on the news stepped up to fix the roof and for a reason I can't explain I got my wife in the car, drove to Home Depot, bought two very large space heaters, and took them to her the next day. Today I got out of bed, dressed the children, loaded them and the wife into the car, and attended church. Now it has been awhile since I have been in church although I have always believed in the Lord. That service was amazing, I felt like I had small electric shocks going through me (don't know how else to explain it to you), I did not stop smiling the whole service I don't think. I am going back this Wednesday, I felt so good at the end of the service I was hoping they had one on Sunday night.

you are seeing the light ! Things are so much more rewarding when we believe and follow the Lord's teachings. Steve in so az

I agree that we get caught up in everyday life that we forget what is important. I am like you I believed but my job as a police officer had me always working, and like you dealing with the people. But one day in May 2006 on my anniversary I was told that I had lung cancer. Of course after the shock crying in my beer and all that good stuff. I said down and put it all in gods hands. I lost my job, insurance, home savings, but god provided. I have have two major lung operations, the first one they just opened me up and closed me back up. I did go out on that one after, yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Been told 2 time to just go home and wait that they could no nothing. Second lung operation lost 1/2 of my left lung. half of three ribs, and some other things. June 07 had to have two tumors removed from my brain. They are going to have to do radiation the 31 on two more.

Thanks to the GOD I am still here in good health, with my family and friends, GOD can do anything.

When you look around at others we do not know what we have. There are a lot of people that are a lot worst than I am and I pray for them every day.

God bless all

I am not only glad to see you but am touched by what God lays on your heart to pass on to others and how He has done something in you. Praise God for the wonderful things He has done in and through others.

I know the feeling of mistrust, being a former Air Force Police Officer, not only of people but even the branch of the service that saw fit to not give me a promised retirement. Long story.

Not only have you blessed me, and my wife as I read this to her as well, but others too I am sure. You set a great example for your children as well. Thank you SS and thank God.

I gain strength in knowing a few things. I, too, should have been dead Sept or Nov of 2006.

One thing that gives me strength is:

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
As the advertisement for All State insurance used to say "You're in good (GOOD) hands..."

Satan cannot keep me from God - I have been purchased by the blood of Jesus and I am His.

Another thing that gives me strength:

Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

His Word to me (such as Isa 54:17) will not return to God void...it will prosper..it will do that which God has said it would do.

Another strength to me is:

1Jo 4:4

If we stay strong in our faith then whatever problems arise, whatever odds we face, however bleak it looks, we just have to stay strong and know that the Lord will provide the way out and bring us to the other side, for he had the answer to the problem before we ever had the problem.

Speaking on Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. vstar sometimes our problems come to us so that others can witness our strength in faith, and see that through the Lord all things are possible. That if we speak unto the Lord that the mountain will move, that the sea will part, and that no problem is bigger than him. That theres freedom from cancer in our mouth, that a woman who is having trouble getting pregnant, has a baby in her mouth, that a new car, financial well being, a home, a child on drugs, any problems anyone is facing if they but speak it unto the Lord he will provide, that is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. When things look to be as bad as they can get, that we are close to our victory thru the Lord.

Now I sound like I'm giving a sermon, so I'll stop:biggrin:, but when you feel this good its hard not to get fired up. I feel like I want to tell everyone even if they won't listen so they have a chance to feel what I feel.

Sounds like the Holy Sprit working in you! If you have found a good Bible believing church, then it will be great for you and the whole family!
God bless you all!

Mike

sometime feeling let you ( me, us, man kind ) down. Gods word is always true even when the great feeling we have go away. As an example: sometimes I ( we ) dont feel like going to church but Gods word tells us to. Sometimes we dont feel like praising him, once again the bible tells us to. The feeling we have are nice but just like listening to a man preach it must line up with the word of God to be true
