Gad I just hate to pass up a penny signal...

This is hunt #67. Is this a penny spill or what???? Happy Trails.....Z

Nope I don't pass them up ether unless I am really tired and wore out . I have found some silver in with them and also and most of my Indian head pennies I have found came in around the zinc area also .

Now thats some pennies! :clapping: A thought for an interesting group or club hunt would be a massive penny stab for a few hours in any old park or field...just to see who could get the most wild zincs in an allotted amount of time...those pennys sure are excellent teachers for anybody running a detector, they sure tell a lot about an area, its soil conditions and the travel patterns of people. Nice work!

Bob, Bearharold, Mud thanks for come back.
I am out and when a penny comes up it could be better than a penny. So I dig it. I know a lot of guys notch them out. At the end of the season when you have 2000 pennies it is kind of nice. Another pair of knee pads, couple pair of gloves, batteries or?????? My finds are now buying the things I use for detecting. I have now enough to get a cheap detector for back up. I want to send the F70 in after the season it could use a tune up. It has been on hundreds of hunts in all kinds of conditions the past 4 years. Thanks guys and Happy Trails....Z

Yup, pennies do add up. Unlike golf, detecting does help pay it's own way. With always the off chance of paying off big time. For me, getting a good signal and digging it and when you rescan the hole and the signal is gone and you scan the mound of dirt you scooped out and the signal is in it.....the anticipation of unearthing a nice target is just a GREAT feeling to me. Kind of addictive in a way.

What kind of backup detector are you thinking about?? Bob.

Bob that is a good question. I made up my mind sometime ago. Tesoro Compadre with a 5.75" coil. I have been using tid detectors for the last 8 years. I would like something different a detector that is light, fast, easy to use, no fooling around setting it up, detect by sound, nothing else to buy. I have copied morse code for the last 55 years plus and kind of get the hang of tones changing. I had a Tesoro DeLeon and that is the only detector I wish I would have kept. I have to clean my coins first. I already have 4 (32 oz tubs) full coins to be cleaned. Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

I hate diggin stinkin' lincolns. Sorry.... CCH

Zeekeys says, " I already have 4 (32 oz tubs) full coins to be cleaned."

Throw those babies in a tumbler with some aquarium gravel and a little brasso.........I usually leave them all night, they come out looking like new pennies. Of course, the old rotten zincolns have no hope. Take them with you the next time you go to a tot lot and spread them around.......you'll keep the kids happy and busy, not to mention the newbies. (j/k)

Hi Zeekeys , I wanted to show you the penny I dug last Tuesday while in a park detecting . It rang up real good as a penny and was nice and loud . Thats why I dig the pennies , it weighted 7.79 grams .

Hey Zeek, I just dig the copper pennies. Don't ya know your suppose to leave the stinkin zincolns for seed?
