Ok, what say ye about gain? Read an article from a guy who cleared out a patch then bumped his gain to 10 and barely heard but found more stuff. Is there any advantage of running lower gain?
 
I spent 4 hours hunting this site today, and I have hunted that same site at least 10 other times, and I was getting skunked. I did the unthinkable, switched the dang machines into semi-auto and gain 10. Bagged my first silver for the year, a nice token and 3 other wheats. The silver and the wheat signals were coming in all broken and iffy but the digital ID was in the ballpark of what I am used to. I almost never find anything that iffy with my old set-up, manual and gain 7. Just faint, which I like since it lets me know deepies. But if I continue to find stuff this way, hey, I'm takin it.
