New explorer owner here,trying to go through all i can here,read my manual twice,view the cd,and walk around on some of the snow free areas here in michigans thumb.A few questions,"gain settings" what do they mean,looked all over,maybe i am just missing it.Appreciate any replys,scott
 
Basically a response is gauged by the depth and size of a target. For instance going for deepies I use 10 as I want to be sure to hear them. Younger fellows with excellent hearing may use 5 which gives them a modulated effect( shallow loud, deep soft) so they know from the get go if the target is deep or shallow by the audio. Again many do well using either method and is your call...depending on your personal preferences...
