Garret at propointer and DEUS problems

I bought 2 propointers the at ones .One I can use with my Deus the other one I cant it drives it crazy .Anyone else having this problem?
 
I found out the problem when I called garrett . The frequencys vary just a little on the propointers and this one varies just enough that I cant use it with the 12 kh programs I run. I know you can shift the 12 kh just a little but Heath Jones said dont do that it kills depth have not tested that theory. Does anyone know anything about that?
 
I don't see how shifting frequency by a couple of hertz could "kill depth." Sounds like "the sky is falling!"
 
Thats what he said in one of his videos but I will have to test it in my garden,I dont either but who knows.
 
People put anything and everything in videos , I would caution putting credence in the vast majority of them.
I have never had issues with either of my propointers and interference with the Deus but I hunt mostly in 18k.
The problem will go away soon when XP introduces their $300 gotahave pinpointer.
 
It only happens when you run in 12 kh because the pro pointer runs in 12 kh. When I make videos I try to be factual about what I say. Whether Heath Jones is correct or not I dont know but he and Ed Huffman are accomplished hunters in the relic world. Cant wait for my XP Deus pin pointer! btw I put in a call to see if I could talk to Heath Jones and see WHY he said that. I doont know the guy so we will see if he calls me back will update later.
 
Update I talked to Heath Jones and he said the reason he said that is when you shift it it locks your tx into3 and sometimes that has a positive effect and sometimes it has a negative effect just according to what soil your in.Where he lives in ala it hurts him because of his soil.
 
Well that is interesting. I wonder if it's a bug? I can't think of a legit purpose for that to happen!

Seems like it would be trivial for Garrett to put an adjustment screw behind a rubber plug that would shift the pinpointer frequency a bit.
 
THE BOOK TALKS ABOUT FREQUENCY SHIFT ON PAGE 39 ITS INTERESTING AND SHOULDNT BE DONE UNLESS NO OTHER OPTION .
 
I guess I've been lucky - I use my Deus and propointer all the time with no issues at all.

Does it only go nuts when you are pinpointing? If it's just that I wouldn't let that bother me. If it affected something after you've turned it off that would be different.

I also find it VERY hard to believe that just changing the frequency a bit destroys depth by itself.

By the way I personally really love the videos you posted on YouTube!
 
It wasnt the frequency shift itself that killed the depth but it locks the tx at 3 and he was saying where he lives thats bad and will cost him depth. It only affects when you turn it on but fix the problem traded out with my son in law for the first propointer I had and it works fine with it. thanks for watching my videos.
