Garret Pro Pointer Problem

pilot

New member
Not sure if something is wrong but it is happening more and more. My Pro Pointer will detect a target or I think it is, and then when I pull it out of the hole it continues beeping until I cycle power on it. Should I send it in ?

Thanks

Kim

Before you send it in, try turning it on with the tip held against something metal, like your digging tool. Then move it away from the object and turn it off. Then turn it on again, with nothing near the tip. I've never had mine do exactly what your is doing. But when mine starts acting froggy, I "reset" it (as explained) as it seems to make it more stable. Just a thought. HH Randy

How old is the battery? If the battery is getting weak you might want to replace it. I have had that happen to my Garrett Pro-Pointer.

Mine did that and also chirped when it hit the sides of the hole lightly and with light pressure on the tip. It also didnt hit a target till I turned it off and back on. Emailed Garret and was told to send it in and a new one will be sent. Should arrive monday along with my xt505 that had a bad board. Kind of missed digging holes.

Mine did something similar, I changed the battery and havn't had a problem since,

Mine did that too when the battery was going bad.

Thanks guys...I have replaced the battery too...it seems like it gets confused and is chirping till you cycle power....got the X1 pprobe so I think I will semd in the Garrett, something is wrong with it.

So you also have an Explorer? I like having both.

Jeff

Yes I have two now. I bought an E-Trac a few weeks ago. Tried out the X1 yesterday for the first time and I really like it.

A poor battery connection can emulate a weak battery. Many with propointers have had to add a small piece of foam inside the screw on battery cap, to add just enough pressure to make good contact. Certainly worth a try, to see if it helps.
