I'm seriously thinking about buying a Garrett 2500 series detector, but I would like to talk to someone who owns one. My questions are on it's ability to find jewlery, all I read about is it's ability to find coins.

Will,
The 2500 can find all the jewelry you can run accross and dig. It has a preset jewelry mode on it, and once you really know what your doing with it, you can modify it, or put your own program in its memory location.
The 2500 is an all around great machine that can find it all.
Hopes this helps!
Maybe others on the forum that dig for jewelry can tell you more.

I field tested the 2500 years ago and own one. It will find anything you want to find.

On land the 2500 like any other top brand has no problem finding jewelry. On salt water sand it might not match up quite so well.

Yes I sure did! I still alternate between it and 2500. The 1350 is very impressive. I used it in a cw campsite I had been digging. I dug several mini-balls with it, mostly enfields, ranging in depth from 4 to 9". I was surprised how well it pulled out those deeper mini's and with the profiling I new each time what I had.
Its very simple to operate, and a pleasure to hunt with, the weight is not bad, it seems very well balanced, and I love that 7x10 coil.
How about you, have you got out with it?

It would not work. I need some info on the Profile/image and coil info on the 1350. I don't know why it did not work. Later bud Jerry aka Tinfoil

Wrll I tested the proto but haven't been out much with the production model. It has rained here for 6-8 days and finally stopped. I took the 1350 out for a short spin today and picked up about $3.00 in coins in about an hour. It likes nickels so might work on some nuggets if the ground ain't too hot.
As a hint to newbies - I hunted the football field area at a really big high school that has been beaten to death by detectors and you can't find squat in all the choice areas but the last time I was there I do as I usually do and hit the spot I know they turned their nose up at and found over six bucks in a short time, then another $3.00 or so today in about an hour. The 1350 should make a lot of coinshooters happy, especially if they learn the pinpointing trick.

It is fine with jewelry, except in sand. I don't live near a beach but I tried it out on one of those fancy volley ball courts and it might as well have been giving me dimensions for playmate of the month.

Must have contained a lot of black sand. Did you lower your sensitivity and keep the coil up a couple of inches?
