Just a reminder in case you haven't seen it yet, tonight 1/23/09 on the science channel at 9:00pm ET, How it's Made will be on. In this episode the Garrett Plant and ACE 250 will be featured in one segment. Looking forward to it.

I skimmed thru tonights guide no mention of metal detector's then went to the episode guide, nada??? I guess i'll just have to watch and see. Is that 9pm central??

Sci Ch is Channel 193 on Dish Network - Doesn't give any info except "How It's Made" 8:00 - 9:00 in two segments.

I found it. chan 111 on time werner cable! --- How It's Made 5: Episode 21 ---- in case yall miss it

It's a Preminum channel on my cable! Crap!

Well, it was kinda interesting. Lasted about 7 minutes. Showed how they make a wand for airports and about three minutes on making the 250. Showed winding the coil, installing circuit board and speaker, and tuning the coil to the circuit board. Also showed a circuit board in the center section of the coil being installed. I didn't know they had a board there. Learned something. Then they showed a guy swinging the detector and finding an old silver dollar.
I did record it but so far don't know how to upload a video to the forum. Like I said, it was interesting but short.

It also confirms my thoughts on the coil needing to be tuned to the machine!

That "guy" swinging the detector was Vaughn Garrett. Thought it was pretty cool but kind of short, I wanted to see way more.

They have a better segment on "Made In America." if they ever show it again. It lasts the whole 30 minutes. I missed the one last night but if it only lasted a few minutes I didn't miss much.
