Garrett AT Pro Iron tones.

simple jack

New member
From watching youtube videos, I've heard the low iron tones that AT Pro puts out when set up a certain way, but have noted that the Fisher F75 and Teknetics T2 can be set up to basically do the same thing.

Or is it different where the AT pro is concerned, with its iron discriminate setting?

Just curious.

Iron discrim on the AT-Pro is 1 to 40. If you run it lower than 40 you can hear low tones for iron targets. The AT-Pro also has a feature called Iron Audio. If you turn that on the iron tones become iron growls. And you can listen to the growls "kind of" giving you a idea of the object and you can hear a good target next to the iron one. At least this is how I use it. Perhaps John from Edmonton might be able to describe it better.

I can't speak for the Fishers, but the AT Pro + AT Gold each have the iron audio feature which can be set up to your own preferred setting. It helps distinguish a bottle cap (which can sound like a good target)from a good target by the audio. This feature can be turned on/off with the push of a button....users choice. :)

Below is a video showing how to utilize the iron audio.

I am interested in the AT Pro but want to learn as much as possible about its iron discriminating capabilities before I make the decision on it.

But that helps immensely.

With the iron audio on. From what ever number you have it set at and up will be a mid tone. The AT-Pro does a very good job of picking out non ferrous objects from the iron. Go slow with the sweep speed in heavy iron infested area's and you'll do fine. HH
