Hi,i have the ace 250 at moment,I'm thinking of buying a bigger coil 9x12 to go deeper and cover more ground. My question is,how much deeper will this go than the standard coil. The 9x12 is

I would grab one of the KellyCo excelerator 10X14" DD coils for 99.00 USD they are deeper and handle mineralized soil a lot better. We have one on the way for my wifes Ace 250.

You would have to spend a few hundred bucks more to get a better detector. The 9x12 will get you 2-3 inches more in depth plus cover more ground.

I just recently started really using my bigger coil on my 2500. I wish I had been using it more, earlier. What I'm finding is that it goes deeper and also is hotter on items like coins turned on edge and other small targets. What is fortunate is that when I go back to sites I've been over thoroughly with my stock coil, the big coil really vacuums up the deeper targets the stock coil missed and I'm not forced to dig as many shallow, modern coins.

I used an Ace 250 for three months and used my accumulated finds to purchase a GTI 2500. For the first week or two using my 2500 I was somewhat regretting my upgrade because I was finding better stuff with my Ace 250 mainly because I had become very proficient with it. I didn't realize that while the machines are similar, it would take some time to get to know my new detector. I now really love my GTI 2500 and my Ace 250 sat idle for most of 2008 and all of 2009 so far. My advice is to set a goal for yourself with the machine you have now and not to even consider upgrading until you reach it. Something like 2000 coins or 200 pounds. When you reach your goal you will find that you've gotten much better with your current machine. If you still want to upgrade, being a better hunter will make the transition easier.

Many of us are hoping for a new high end Garrett detector. I'm waiting for the day it is released when I'll probably get one with some of my 2500 loot.

Chris

PS That 18k ring might pay for a big chunk of a top end detector and if it's valuable as a collectible maybe even the whole thing!

The 9x12 is a great coil and say again for sure will pick up hot wheel car at 11inches and will hit coins deep will pick up coins on ground and couple inches under but if you run into a spill of coins it will sound like a pinball machine it separates good to i just ordered the 10x14 dd excellerator coil for ace 250from KellyCO 99 dollars little big but always had good luck with excellerator coils.I would try a bigger coil first instead of a new machine after you try it if is not want you can increase sale price of machine or sell it separate. My new coil comes tomorrow try to get out with and post .Just looked on KellyCO site 9x12 for ace 250 is 84.00 dollars.I see you have a funny sign next to the price does that mean lira different than American.Hope this help some.

hi no that is the English pound sign i hope.i have ordered a 9x12 from eBay via America for 84 usd plus 12 for posting.i looked at kellyco 10x14 acelerator.they wanted 100usd plus 50 postage to uk.also told me i would have to pay tax or custom tax.

Ohio Fred,

That symbol is the British Sterling Pound and 99 Pounds is about $164.00 American. Thats alot for the 9x12 Garrett Coil.
