Garrett pinpointer problems?

I purchased one about 6 months ago, but due to frozen ground I have not gotten a chance to use it except for the last few days. I have a problem with mine. I keep getting a lot of "chatter" with it. Meaning like a lot of random fast beeps. Also when I pinpoint something with it, it keeps on going off even after I have removed it from all metal. I have to keep turning it on and off to get it to stop. It also has been missing a lot of coins in a few inches of dirt. I have replaced the batteries and it doesnt help. Any else have this problem? I can send it in, but didnt know if there was an easier fix?

Sounds like a glitch in the circuit and a trip to Garrett is needed. Contact Melinda at Melinda.Harper@garrett.com

Someone else on this forum had that exact same problem a while back. He sent it back to Garrett and they sent him a new one.

Oh yeah, Garrett's will take care of ya. That factory cranks out sooooo much stuff ya know some of it's not gonna be perfect. They'll definately hook ya up, though. Great customer service. Good luck and sorry that you got a bad one. Happy Hunting!

Dave - I had a similar problem. Sent it back to Garrett and they replaced it lickety split.

I'd suggest calling customer service first before shipping it back.

Sue in customer service was great when I called.
