ANY ONE EVER USE THE SEA HUNTER 500XL? I JUST PICKED ONE UP IN A PACKAGED DEAL WITH THE SMALL AND THE LARGE COILS, THAT AND A TREASURE ACE 100 FOR 100 BUX. I HAVE THE ACE LISTED FOR SALE. SO THIS MAY NEED NEW NICADS IT WONT HOLD A CHARGE BUT SEEMS TO WORK GOOD ANYWAY. WHAT DO I HAVE? I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS THING IS OR THE BEST WAY TO RUN IT IS IT EVEN ANY GOOD? I DO MOSTLY FRESH WATER HUNTING BUT WANT TO DO SALT WATER HUNTING HOW DOES THIS RUN IN SALT? ANY INFO,INPUT AND TIPS ON THIS MACHINE ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED I AM ELECTRONICLY CHALLENGED SO BE PATIENT IF I ASK YOU TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING TO ME , THANKS!

It’s a P I detector, and doesn’t have any way to discriminate. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for fresh water hunting for items like gold jewelry, coins, small stuff.
I believe the unit was designed for salt water SCUBA usage. It would work most anywhere, but the sensitivities may not be what you desire if your hunting the mentioned items.
If you want to do fresh water detecting, to have satisfactory results you will need to acquire a detector designed for such.
Mr. Bill

thanks Mr.Bill. yea i use a tesoro tiger shark for the fresh water lakes just wondered if 100 bucks for the sea hunter was a good deal can i use the sea hunter on land too? how well will it work? and what is the todo about pulse induction? i really do not understand what pulse induction means thanks

Mr Bill, Do you think the good people who make the Headhunter PI will ever take the circuitry out of the headphones and put it on the shaft? I heard the headphones get heavy after awhile. I never used a Headhunter, just curious. Thanks for your time. Reed

I don’t think that would happen because the whole concept of the company is having them in the headphones.
Compared to everything else, there very lightweight. Hunting all day with them would not be unusual.
Mr. Bill

Hello Reed,
I sort of did what you're asking with remounting the HH Pi circuit board inside a shaft housing with extra HH Pi parts, The housing in the picture is a gutted out fisher 1225-X housing now equiped with HH Pi parts.
I use both the HH Pi with circuit board inside the headset and this model in the pic and prefer the Detector Pro version, The headset to the HH Pi is not heavy and is the best set-up for fresh water wading too with less drag.

<STRONG>Reed, somwebody's pulling your leg. I use the HH Wader and HH PI and I can assure you the headphones are NOT heavy. I usually wade and swinging a shaft with more stuff on it would just be more work for no gain.
