Garrett Ultra GTA 500 Detector

Does anyone have some knowledge or experience with this detector that they could share? One is listed for sale in the local Shopper magazine for $175 - "in good condition" it says. Surely it's better than a Bounty Muffler? The only information that I have been able to find was an article from 1992 that heaped praises for it's features and performance. Also found the users manual posted on the Garrets web site. Any help/info appreciated.

It was a pretty fair machine in its day but is many years old and long in the tooth technologically. You'd be better off adding another twenty five bucks or so and picking up a new Ace 250, or even cheaper if you can find a good used one and benefit from the new technology and many more features. John can pipe in on this one as I believe he owned and used one many years back.
