GB Tracking???

MEV

New member
well i have been having problems with my x terra 705, sometimes i do great and sometime i dont, i think i know why, in the last 3 hunts my detector was acting wierd the tid numbers were jumping all around everytime it detected something -2 -6 34 , 40 .28 , -8 etc so i decided not to dig it ; my set up was sencitivity 26. i had it tracking on. So i decided to turn off traking , just when i did that my detector started to get great signals , i found 1 1889 silver coin, and one gold ring , so i decided to check my ground balancing in a manual way every 5 minutes. My question is

Is tracking a must use on x terra 705 or it is just an option???

You can turn it on or off as you choose, so it is an option, just like ID Stability (the "+" icon).

I hope not because I've never used it. I just do the auto ground balance.

Its definitely an option but is almost a necessity when working wet sand on a saltwater beach or in conditions where the mineralization varies widely in a small area. Then it will keep the detector quiet without having to constantly auto ground balance. Its a good idea to turn it off and then back on occasionally.

I use mine almost always but it is just an option.

I leave ground tracking on and when i hit a target i shut it off...... Then just put it back on when resuming sweeping. Target ID will also stop the number jumps.

It's an option that I almost always use. When I get jumpy signals like you describe, it's usually junk.

I should try turning tracking off when I get those signals.....maybe I'll find more goodies.
