Anybody tried the Teknetics G2 ?? Supposed to unmask better than anything else but I haven't seen any reports from any Minelab users... Some folks are more easily impressed than others if you know what I mean...wildherre

G2 and Fisher Gold Bug SE ver 2.9 & pro are about the same.. Fisher has s shaft handle.. wildherre

I finally got to take the G machine to a site that I have hunted for the past few years .. The site was pretty well hunted out when I found it but I have enjoyed coaxing out the last few difficult targets that were beyond the capabilities of previous machines. The question was can a ultra stable lightweight machine with fast recovery speed , excellent separation abilities and a adjustable break point but limited depth squeeze a few more keepers from a site that has quit producing.. The answer is yes it can. My last hunt at this site produced one zinker in a 4 hour hunt with a Etrac.. Today's hunt with the G2 produced five total coins, these 2 plus a newer dime and 2 newer pennies.... I will hit it again as the weather & my skills with the G2 improve and no, there is no mint mark on the merc...wildherre

I checked the top of the thread and sure enough this is a minelab forum. I'm at a loss as to why we are hearing about another brand when that brand has it's own forum? seems to me someone is trying to compare brands on a forum where that's not allowed. the question of whether any minelab users have used another brand is common but not to go on and on about how much better it is than the home brand. this isn't even the e-trac forum.i would think directing users to the brand's site for more info is acceptable.( couldn't spell appropriate.) glad your happy with your new find. jmho ,( it cost nothing and is worth about the same.)

1. I consider this my home forum and have been using Minelab Sovereigns and Explorers & Etracs for about 10 years .
2. If you ask a question about a unit on their home forum you get highly biased opinions
3.Anybody that has been around this forum for more than a few months knows I use Minelabs but am open minded enough to try other manufacturer's units to compliment my hunting experience.. I was not interested in opinions on how this unit compared to a any other unit other than the units I use..
4. I felt and still feel that most Explorer users are confident enough in there detectors not to be threatened by someone looking for honest, hands on comparison on an additional unit that may compliment their detecting. experience.
5. It is very rare to find a unit that actually compliments my main units and thought my long time friends on here may benefit from my experience...... wildherre

okay bud,
first. it doesn't matter how long you've been on the forums or how many machines you have. comparison aren't allowed. if the moderator doesn't feel it's wrong then who am i to say otherwise
.i don't know of anyone who is "Threatened" by comparisons. there is a forum for them. i also am open minded. i own whites, garretts , radio shack and now minelab.
take a chill pill. don't make a mountain out of a molehill.
ya blew alot of smoke just to say you don't like my opinion. well then so be it. i have so much confidence i'm gunna get another cup of coffee.

Gold bug or G2 have main minus -, very hard to understand what fisher did with different programs, some gold bug works, some not works like others and early models had problem with high conductive targets--was not able to her them... I was thinking to buy one, but after reading all possible info bought used French XP goldmaxx power-detector without screen, where I can more relay for quality. with new products from fisher very hard to understand what will work or what will brake. some people who was crying about goldbug now sale them, some say not enough deep some just sale. Question what goldbug can doo better like F75 or Tesoro Tejon? I dont want to compare to FBS explorer or etrac because they are totally different. Stasys

Civil comparisons have always been allowed in this forum and hopefully always will be..People stirring the pot for no apparent reason has always been frowned upon and still is.. wildherre

I know what you mean on the different versions of the Gold Bugs.. Very confusing.. That was my major deciding factor when choosing between a Gold Bug SE and a G2.. G2 has only one version , the same functionally as the last version of the Gold Bug SE..Benefits of a G2 or GBSE over a F75 are stability , separation and simplicity.. Benefits over a Tejon I would guess(never owned one) would be VID, separation and adjustable break point..Some people confuse recovery speed with target separation.. I still remember the awful feeling when my F75 LTD wouldn't hit a 6" partially masked mercury dime that my hunting buddies with their Explorer SEs hit with no problem.. wildherre
