Gilt Button, What's "Imperial" stand for?

Hello,

I've found many Gilt buttons but never have I recovered one with the letters "Imperial" on the back, It may have a couple of more letters or a symbol in between but the word Imperial is there. The more I clean the button the more it appears to be gold? I'm sure it's brass but it sure looks like gold.

Any idea were the button is from, England or ?

Thank you, Paul (Ca)
