Read and reflect on Matthew 26:36 - 43. Jesus was overwhelmed with sorrow " 'to the point of death' " in vs. 38. Visualize the agony of Jesus, with lack of social support and betrayal from His disciples, seeming separation from God, and the load of guilt from humanity. His suffering exceeds any depressive episode experienced by mortals.

Matthew 26:36-43 Gethsemane "Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, "My soul is over- whelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Jesus said that He would never leave nor forsake us and being One in God, He can not lie! We need to encourage those who are going through sadness and sorrow that it will only last for a short period in time compared to eternity and to hang onto Jesus by leaning on and trusting in Him and obeying Him by studying and knowing God's Holy Word...The Bible! May God Bless the poor in Spirit and lift them up above the pit of depression and any overwhelming sorrow and grief! Amen! Ma Betty

ABSOLUTELY, MaBetty! Few accepted that the Anointed One had come in their time, and reletively few of the world's population acknowledge Him even today. Rick Warren, in The Purpose Driven Life, points this out as well. "Thinking About My Purpose - Points to Ponder: God wants to be my best friend. Verse to Remember: "Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him." Psalm 25:14a (LB). Question to Consider: What can I do to remind myself to think about God and talk to Him more often throughout the day?"

I would encourage EVERYONE to purchase Rick Warren's book The Purpose Driven Life, as it does help us realize 'Our Purpose Drive Life' and reminds us 'We Were Planned for God's Purpose'.
