Going back to Illinois....

DK

New member
to visit my sister and brothers next month. Going to do some detecting at some old homesites and other places. I know alot of sites from my growing up years there, and my one brother has just bought a detector and wants to do some hunting. Going to check out some sites of one room school houses that are long gone, but the sites are there and undisturbed. Won't be to far from Ma, so maybe we will yell real loud to you Ma, and say Hi.

I know you missed the forum hunt, but come up anytime and we will go diggin!

Yes, DK, if your are in IL you will be closer, but depends on where you are in IL, so you might have to holler really loud! Hope you and your brother find some oldies and goodies! If you come to South County, I live about 5 miles from the river and, although I still haven't done much with my house, you are welcome to come or phone me! Send me a PM and I will send you my number and address, if you decide to visit on the MO side of the Mississippi! :) God Bless! Betty

We will be in Salem, Illinois, which is about 50 miles east of St. Louis on Route 50. I spent alot of time in St. Louis when I was growing up in Illinois. Joan and I came over there in 2006 when we were back home for a visit. Took her up in the Arch, which I never thought she would do. Took her to the zoo also. I watched many a Cardinals game at the old Busch Stadium. That is where I joined the Navy also. If we decide to venture west of the Miss. we will call you. I know where South County is. I will PM you later.

I think most of those who live or lived in IL always made it to St. Louis, for a lot of them work in MO. I was born and raised in Southeast, MO near Bunker and not too far from Salem, MO! I have visited the Zoo several times, but have not been up in the Arch! My kids were when their grandmother took them down to the Arch Grounds! I was mostly too busy working in and out of the home and raising children, so I really didn't do a lot of sightseeing, only on vacations!

Let me know if you can make it to MO! :) God Bless! Betty
