Going to meet a new hunting buddy today for some woods hunting...

Supposed to hit 40 today and 50 tomorrow. (I'm going to have to buy a sweatband :) )

Been emailing a guy from Tnet and we're finally meeting up this morning to hunt some woods. He's got a spot we're he's found an old foundation and root cellers. You just can't hunt these areas until the winter; they're loaded with deer and with the deer come lots of ticks.

Bought me a folding shovel at the Army / Navy store yesterday and I'm ready to go :) We've had a lot of rain over the last week or so and the ground is like butter :bouncy:

It is in the low 40's here and the white stuff is melting. Too bad the ground is like concrete! :(

While in the Air Force, I had some training we had to do down in Texas (combat survival training and air base ground defense training). We were in a location loaded with ticks. There was a suggestion made but could not be forced upon the 'troops' to protect themselves from ticks attaching themselves to peoples legs as they walked through the brush. It seemed like a drastic measure...and that was before we had heard of Lyme Disease. The suggestion was to go to the local base store and buy panty hose and wear them. Here is the reasoning...the very tight mesh weave keeps the ticks from getting to one's legs and the panty part keeps them from family jewels.

One of the guys fell onto a nest of these ticks and had to be air-evac'd out to the nearest hospital as they were all over his face - poor guy. So if ya happen to grab up a pair of Vicki's panty hose you can tell her it is for protection :) from ticks.

I recall a time that panty hose combined with a girdle also kept a pest away...but then again that is another story of long ago when I was dating my first wife to be. So won't say anything more.

I don't think I'll be wearing pantyhose on a hunt. With my luck, I'd have the big one in the middle of digging a plug :)

Funny story though!
