I found a gold plated penny and a key ring in a tot lot. It was such a thrill to find them. I had never seen a gold plated penny. And, well, a ring is a ............... I also found an elongated penny form Disneyland, a CC Token and a couple buttons. I found 24 coins for $2.82. The high lite of the day was watching a guy fly a remote control airplane. When they go straight to the ground at 50 miles an hour they don't fair to well  I was going to offer to MD for the pieces but he didn't look to happy about his broken toy:lmfao:

At least you got to go out and play. I had to baby sit.

Do you think it is gold plated or just paint?

I watched a buddy's plane do that in TX. Amazing how deep that engine will go in hard clay.

It is gold plate. You can buy them on the net. I felt bad because I couldn't stop laughing.

I have a lot of gold plated Kennedy's.

I remember seeing something on the net about a crazy artest that made a solid gold US penny & put it in circulation so keep you eyes pealed.

chances are that the coin is not gold plated.

You can plate a coin with zinc using water, galvanized nails and sodium hydroxide. When you heat the zinc coated copper penny over a low flame the zinc combines withe copper to form a thin layer of bronze. I have done it many times and it looks really cool.

Now that is a cool find! I guess the next best thing to finding a gold coin is finding a gold plated one. And the next best thing to finding a ring is finding a key ring

Search the net. You can buy gold plated coins reql cheap. It looks like gold, not bronze.

Yeah they're all over the place. Most all coin dealers sell them or give them away as promos or bonus coins. I think I got mine as a free gift for buying some other coins years ago.

Bill.
