Gold Fever !!

Had an extraordinary afternoon yesterday. An elderly gentleman who lives in one of the apartment buildings that I take care of had heard that I knew some things about coins. So he proceeded to pull these beauties out of his pocket. They were taped together with very old, yellowed scotch tape and had been given to him on his 10th birthday...he's gotta be in his mid-eighties now. Anyways I told him I'd be back the next day with my Red Book and a couple of coin flips. So today I gladly put them into flips for him so they could'nt be further damaged in any way. And showed him what they were probably worth based on their condition. I told him I figured it was around 1K for both coins...he was impressed. Love that gold....wish I could afford it. Enjoy the pics !

Wow, Dave! You did the right thing...maybe the old fellow remembers where the old spots were in town, or could get you permission to hunt an old farm house up there...I used to spend some time between Northome and Grygla, and south down to Gonvick, Gully, Fosston trapping beaver,...lots of weird abandoned houses out there in the swamps north of the peat bog I remember...matter of fact, I helped a fellow tear down an old school house east of Grygla 25 years ago...he just wanted it for the tin, but underneath was dovetailed cedar, and it was in a farmers field...Hmmm...I'll check the satelite and see if I can locate that spot again...

Imagine how many 10 year olds mis-placed coins like that for us to find! Sweet!
