Gold Nugget Hunting with Minelab Explorer

Gerry in Idaho

New member
I have been asked many times if the Minelab Explorer is a Good Nugget Machine? Since I have used the Explorer to hunt for Nuggets and I currently own or have used most all of the Nugget Machines on today market, I feel it is not as good of a Nugget Machine as the others. I myself prefer the FIXED kHz of the X-70 over the Explorer. But!!! I do have some photos of one of my customers and the nice Gold Nugget he found with his Explorer.
So...Yes it can find Gold Nuggets, but I prefer the lighter, easier and cheaper X-Terra 70 over the Explorer. Plus the option of the fixed 18.75 kHz coil is better than the multi changing kHz of the Explorer.

I have attached (1) photo here, but if you go to the Yank Prospecting Forum on the Findmall, you'll see more photos of PROOF that the Explorer can find Gold Nuggets.

Remember to...Swing It Slow & Keep It Low..If you want to Have something to SHOW!!!

But I have seen it have trouble seeing fine gold like a thin necklace. But I still love my Explorer! :)

and like the old commercial used to say "Knowing is half the battle."

Thanks again Gerry.

I have found little picker nuggets smaller than 1/10 of a grain with the GB-2 and I have also dug up many nice size nuggets with a few over the prized 1 OUNCE range.

These 2 attached photos are some GB-2 Nuggets that one of my customers found.

Got to love that GB-2.
