Gold Panning....

New member
Went a panning a couple of weeks ago to a new area. Hunted for a few hours and walked away empty handed. It was really pretty there though! I did find out after I got back that the area that I went is almost exclusively dredged.(except when I go ;)). The little nuggets that they find are usually fairly deep in the gravel beds. I have another area scoped out that has more flakes, and I know that I can get those with a pan!
Thanks for lookin'

J.

A little riffle and pool that was pretty....

The area where I found some quartz crystals, while cleaning out a bedrock crack...

The site of Bohemia City (approx. 5200 feet)...(the area from where much of the downhill gold originates)

not sure I'd want to be up 5,200 feet unless I was in an airplane....and not flying over hilss higher than I am flying through.

Nice looking crystals. Do you shine them up somehow (rock tumbler?} to make them more see through?

Congrats on getting out into that beautiful area and for getting the finds you worked for too.

That sure is one beautiful site!

I've been on a couple of panning sites and seen a bunch of videos of guys hunting. Looks like a lot of fun!
Here's a pic of a 20 ounce nugget somebody found. Whoa! How pretty is that??? Sure as heck beats finding clad :)

I bet it was fun either way! :) Thanks for sharing!

Thats the way the crystals were, after I rinsed them. They also have a bluish/purple tint to them. As for the height, I was a little stressed a couple of times, when I was driving on a clear cut ridge that went down hundreds of feet on both sides, with no trees to stop your fall! Not for the faint of heart! The views were spectacular though!!!

I would take that nugget, if it showed up at the end of my shovel!:)

I figured Yellowbottom meant the bottom of the creek was full of gold! :)
