Gold, Silver and Rainbows. Plus a Whatzit

Ugly-J

New member
I went back to the drought stricken lake for some more goodies and digging pain. Saturdays hunt I used my excal the look for more lures and goodies, so it was another digging grinder. Found a good area with lots of targets but a lot of iron. I moved real slowly though the iron and trash when a good tone came though and out pops 1944 wheaty. At this time I started to grid the area as best as I could, my excal was nulling the whole time. Moved as slow as possible trying to get a good tone if it sounded somewhat good I dug it. One of those scoops pulled out the 1957 quarter. At that time I marked the area and moved on. Just too much iron. Found the gold ring later in the day” I was jazzed about that until I got home”. The magnifying glass revealed the 14k gold filled, just my luck.
I went back Sunday with the E-Trac to work the iron infested area for some more silver and goodies. TTF mode worked it magic in the iron field and pulled out the 1964 rosie and some other treasures.
The whatzit looks like a whistle and it has three parts to it. It is stuck together real good so I’m waiting on pulling it apart at this time.
Furthermore, my son went to fish and was doing pretty good with the trout, so I took a break from swinging to casting and ended up with a limit of rainbows. You have to love this hobby and all the perks.

I agree. I’m kind of a young buck, so they were before my time. Thank you Elton for the info.

Sweet patient hunting Ugly-J, congrats on the silver!! And the picture of the rainbows in the scoop is very funny, man I bet they were tasty:bouncy::rofl:

Some serious digging going on!! Love all the lures and sinkers. Nice silver. Hope the next ring is the real deal.
I still use my dads razor like that one...blades last forever, nicks bleed like a BP oil leak.
Sweet deal on the trout...Here on the Gulf coast of Florida we got the speckled trout, great eating in the winter time.
