I've found tons of silver (well not actual tons, but a lot), but my question is about finding gold with my Safari. Is there something I'm missing here? Any help is better then no help.

A buddy of mine has a Safari...he's in his mid 30's ...been hunting since he was in his teens, and like you, finds an incredible amount of silver...anyway a few years ago, he started hunting for gold...and by dang, he's gotten real good at it! :surprised:

He found 2 gold rings Friday!...the outside temp was low 30's and yet he got into some open water somewhere and got on the gold...so I would say get yourself a set of waders, and a scoop, and find some water...so for the past few years, he hunts gold in the water, and gets maybe 10 gold rings per year...also has found some great silver coins in there too...so even though there may be a better water hunting rig, he uses what he is good with.

..Also, if you get and read Clives new book "The Gold Jewelry Hunters Handbook" about hunting gold in water and parks, it will help you immensely, if gold is what you are after..if you have no water to wade in, hunt parks...its a little different site/signal analyzing process for gold hunters, but you should be able to pick up on it pretty quickly....Good Luck1

Awesom info mudpuppy. I am going to get the book and I'll start looking for it today. I was out at a lake the other day and a guy came up to me with waders on to talk. I thought he was fishing, but he had been there detecting. He too likes the water. It got me thinking, I better get with the program. I don't have sand scoop yet or waders. I'll read the book first, then figure it out.

Yeah? Good! Those old guys that have specialized in hunting certain things for 30+yrs that are willing to share their experiences sure does cut down our learning curve!...for less than 4 gal of gas, I figured it would help you....theres really not that many of them that hunt gold with great success year after year...I just try to pattern their methods, learn from their experience so I dont have to learn from my own mistakes...knee deep to shore are the prime locations...so you got gear that should serve you well if you decide to use it in this attempt. Lemme throw up some pictures that might inspire you. I hunt chains, and heres 3 of them, anchor one 14k, figaro one on the scale is 10k, and that big one 24k....my 4 yr anniversary of detecting will be this April...so it can be done is all I'm saying...rings are no prob, they hit pretty hard...chains can easily get passed over as junk...

Wow. Good finds. I am really jealous. Here in Nebraska, I don't have too many great beaches to hit. I had to travel a couple hours out of town today for work and saw an abandoned farmhouse on the way. I might just stop by there on the way back and try my luck.
