Golden uMax All Metal Mode Question

:cool:Hi Guys, I really value the opinions, instructions, and experience of all you Tesoro users. I am kinda new to Tesoro and have an all metal mode question. I used to have a White's IDX Pro. It had a non-motion all metal mode pinpoint switch mounted under the handle ( like the Tejon has). When I used the Whites in all metal the target would get louder like normal. I could stop moving my target completey and the sound would stay there until you moved it away from the center of the coil. Now, on my Golden when I switch to all metal there is a sound like a VCO and it gets louder as the target approaches the center of the coil, but if I stop and keep the target in center of the coil without moving it then the sound just fades away. Is this normal? Should I send it in to have it checked? My Silver Sabre uMax almost does the same thing so I am wondering if this is just normal behavior for Tesoro units. Your help on this might save it a trip to the shop. Thanks, RDF :tesoro::detecting:

The White's Classic series have a slow auto-tune speed. If you hold them stationary over a located target for a long enough delay, they will gradually auto-tune (retune) to the Threshold level. For me it is a rather comfortable retune speed and quite functional.

Yes, that's normal. The modern Tesoro's have a faster auto-tune speed and that's what you hear if you hold the coil stationary over a target. It is a rather brisk speed, and I personally with is was slower or more delayed.

Yes, it's 'normal' with most of them offered today. Some of the earlier Tesoro models, like the 'original' Bandido, had a little slower autotune speed that I did like, then they sped it up along the way.

Just one of the things we have to live with and sending it in would be a waste of time.

Well RDF,

The Golden

 Yes, That explains a lot. I just got confused when I read in the Golden uMax owner's manual that it has a non motion all metal mode  Thanks for the input Monte and Hombre. It's great to have people on here that can help clear up some of these technical issues :beers: You guys have a great day, RDF.
